Quilt donations
The WELCA Ladies of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant delivered several quilts and flannel throws to the Youth Service Bureau. The material was purchased with a grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. (Photo provided)
  • Bread of Life Community Family Meal will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Asbury United Methodist Church, 204 E. Arch St., Portland.
  • Revival services will begin Friday at Walnut Corner Church with evangelist Mike Murrell.
  • Jacob Hawes, director of Co. Mission Toldeo, will be the guest speaker for the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at Fort Recovery Church of the Nazarene.
  • Area churches are observing Maunday Thursday, Good Friday and Easter with special services.
  • Evangelical Methodist Church will have a community movie night at 7 p.m. Friday. 
  • Collett Church of the Nazarene has a weekend of activities planned and everyone is welcome.
  • Agape’s Distribution Mobile Rural Food Pantry will be held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Fort Recovery Church of the Nazarene, 401 E. Boundary St.
  • Jay County Men of Prayer will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Richard’s Restaurant in Portland.
  • Smooth transition
    The pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Portland accepted the position to be a transition or bridge pastor for the second time in his career to not only fill a gap but for the congregation to maintain a sense of continuity and to help it during a time of need.

  • Evangelical Methodist Church in Portland will host a Fun Night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday.
  • A League reborn
    Teens at a local church saw a need and took the initiative to start a youth group.
  • GriefShare, a faith-based adult bereavement support group, will begin Monday in Hartford City.
  • Hoping to grow
    A pair of local United Methodist churches have a new pastor. 
  • Jay County Men of Prayer will meet at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Richard's Restaurant.
