Two Redkey men were killed in a car accident Saturday in southwestern Jay County.
Dustin Quakenbush, 30, 33 E. Charles St., and Stephen Sain, 22, 222 N. Oak St., were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident after the car they were in ran off the road and flipped end over end into a field.
Which man was driving the vehicle is unknown, according to the preliminary accident report.
The men were traveling west in a 2007 BMW on county road 800 South near county road 800 West when the car left the north side of the road.
The driver overcorrected and the vehicle exited the southwest corner of the intersection and went into a field. It flipped end over end multiple times before coming to rest on its passenger side facing northeast.
The car traveled 388 feet from where it initially left the road.
The victims weren’t wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision and were ejected from the BMW.
The accident, which was reported about 1:25 p.m., closed county road 800 South to traffic for more than an hour.
Drug and alcohol tests were administered, but results are not expected for at least a week. Damage in the accident was estimated to be between $10,000 and $25,000.
