A memorial service for Duran “Dobie” Balyeat, 84, Berne, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Westchester United Methodist Church, Portland, with the Rev. Darrell Borders officiating. He died April 7 at his home.
Born in Conneaut, Ohio, to Charles Wayne and Helen Ruth (Gongwer) Balyeat, he is survived by his wife Jo-Ann (O’Brien) Balyeat whom he married on June 2, 1967.
Retiring as district manager for H&R Block in Toledo, Ohio, in 1988, he later worked for
in Bryant for 16 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters; a son; three stepdaughters; two stepsons; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery in Bryant.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
