Janet Lee Finch Young, 88, Muncie, died Thursday at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
Born in W. College Corner, to John and Abbie (Smith) Martin, she was preceded in death by husbands Darrell Finch and Franklin Young.
She retired as a home economics teacher with the Jay School Corporation, where she was Y-Teen sponsor, and had also taught at Short High School in Liberty and  Wilson Junior High School in Muncie.
She was inducted into the Jay County Hall of Fame.
Memberships include Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Dunkirk, ISTA, National Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma for 50 years, United Methodist Women and Minnetrista volunteer, Dunkirk Research Club. She was also a founding member of West Jay Community Center.
Surviving are a son, Frederick M. Finch (wife: Patti), Henryville; a stepdaughter, Mary Ruth Painter (husband: Jim), Seattle; two stepsons, Paul W. Young, San Francisco, and Jon Young (wife: Kitty), Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Joan Martin McCreary, Muncie; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at MJS Mortuaries-Dunkirk Chapel with Pastors Randy Davis and Mick Miller officiating. Burial will be in W. College Corner Cemetery.
 Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to West Jay Community Center, The American Cancer Association of American Diabetes Association.
