ANDERSON — The Patriot girls finished their indoor track schedule the same way they started; in record-breaking fashion.
Morgan Brown, Lexie Myers, Britlyn Dues and Amber Huelskamp broke their own school record Saturday at the Patriot Invitational at Anderson University.
The quartet ran to a new indoor record in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4 minutes, 24.48 seconds, nearly three seconds faster than the mark they set March 10.
The 4x800 relay of Abbi Dunlavy, Erika Kunkler, Sydney Mathias and Abigail Johnson also posted an indoor school-record time of 10:35.79, finishing second in the process.
Freshmen Taylor Homan and Dues hold the school’s top mark in the 60-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles. Dues had a time of 11.28 seconds for 15th, and Homan was 27th in 8.91 seconds. The two events are new distances for the 2014 indoor season.
Jay County’s distance medley relay team of Emi Minnich, Audrey Shreve, Kellie Fortkamp and Johnson placed seventh, and the 4x200 relay of Emma Laux, Ashley Alig, Myers and Homan was 13th.
Ciera Barcus finished seventh and 10th respectively in the high jump and long jump.
Nathan Heitkamp (long jump – fourth), Andrew Eley (shot put – seventh) and Andrew Trewyn (high jump – ninth) earned top-10 finishes for the Jay County boys.
