Last week vs. Bluffton: Jay County had a 19-14 lead at halftime slip away as Bluffton scored 29 straight points for a 43-19 victory. Rylee Huftel and Bailey Cox both had a touchdown for the Patriots, while?Bluffton quarterback Hayden Nern threw for nearly 300 yards.

Season leaders: Passing — Sam Dunlavy – 8-of-31 for 119 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Rushing — Bailey Cox – 65 carries for 376 yards and three touchdowns . Receiving — Bailey Cox – three receptions for 43 yards. Defense — Kess McBride – 32 tackles, one tackle for loss.

Last week at Southern Wells: Woodlan racked up 239 yards on the ground and scored twice in each of the first three quarters for a 46-0 victory over Southern Wells. Jake Roemer had 124 yards and a rushing touchdown, while Nathan Bradtmueller threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns.

Season leaders: Passing — Ben Reidy – 30-of-55 for 328 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions. Rushing — Jake Roemer – 35 carries for 191 yards and one touchdown. Receiving — Joe Reidy – 19 catches for 187 yards. Defense — Keegan Jones – 39 tackles, six tackles for loss and one sack.



Last season: Woodlan scored on each of its first four possessions and had more than 300 yards of offense at half time in handing Jay County a 42-21 defeat in Portland. Parker Grimes threw for 184 yards and two touchdowns while running for another score. Woodlan’s Ben Reidy threw for 213 yards and two TDs.

Game notes: This is the sixth meeting all time between Jay County and Woodlan, all five previous contests won by the Warriors. Woodlan has scored 21 or more points in each game, while Jay County’s 21 points last season were the most against the Warriors ... Jay County has never started the season with six consecutive losses, and 2009 was the last time the Patriots lost six in a row during the same season ... Ben Reidy entered the preseason as Woodlan’s starting quarterback, but he went down with a shoulder injury in the Warriors’ 20-6 win against Heritage Sept. 6. He’s expected to miss another couple weeks ... Prior to 2018, the Warriors won their first six games of the season for three straight years ... Woodlan sports a 36.05 Sagarin rating, which is 180th overall and 30th in?Class 2A. Jay County has an 8.94 rating, which is 282nd overall and 57th in Class 4A ... John Harrell’s website predicts Woodlan to win, 31-14, while Calpreps.com lists the Warriors as 35-point favorites.
