  • The City of Portland’s water office will be closed Thursday to allow employees to attend a training session. Also, Portland Redevelopment Commission will hold a special meeting at 8 a.m. Thursday at Community Resource Center, 118 S. Meridian St., Portland.
  • Jay County Solid Waste Management District will have recycling trailers available Saturday. Trailers will be open from 9 a.m. to noon in the shopping center at 220 Lincoln St., Portland, and Dunkirk City Park.
  • There will be no newspaper Thursday to allow our staff to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with their families.
  • Jay County Republicans will hold a caucus at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at The ROCK Church, 1605 N. Meridian St., Portland, to fill the seat of Jay County council member Ray Newton.
  • Jay County Solid Waste Management District will have recycling trailers available from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday across from Pennville Fire Station and 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot at 220 Lincoln St., Portland.
  • After opening Friday, Winterfest activities will continue Saturday with a Kids Breakfast and Karnival from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at East Jay Elementary School.

  • A computer (or user) error caused an issue with the file that contained the story about Monday’s Jay County Commissioners meeting. We are working to recover that file for publication of the story later in the week.
  • Delta Theta Tau sorority will hold its annual craft show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Jay County Junior-Senior High School.
