James L. Pearson, age 61, a resident of rural Pennville, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

He was a member of Hopewell of Life Ministries in Greene Township. He worked at NAPA Auto Parts in Portland and Fuqua Chrysler in Dunkirk. He loved his firearms and fishing, and enjoyed visiting area State Parks.

James Pearson was born July 15, 1957, in Hartford City, Indiana, the son of Robert and Myrtle (Smith) Pearson.

Survivors include:

One son — Andrew Pearson, South Carolina

One brother — John R. Pearson, Portland, Indiana

Three sisters — Janice Vore, Portland, Indiana, Roberta Duncan (husband: James), Ossian, Indiana, and R. Joan Teeters (husband: Clinton), Fort Wayne, Indiana

An aunt — Marie Flory, Portland, Indiana

Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Jackie Pearson.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Williamson-Spencer and Penrod Funeral Home in Portland.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Herb Hummel will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Fort Recovery, Ohio.
