To the editor:

Tuesday’s newspaper had the story of the Gray Redbirds’ victory in 1961 that halted a 32-game losing streak.

At that time, we were expecting our first child. My hushand Voyd went to school at Gray and graduated.

For this game, Max McClurg had put a radio free to who could guess the winner of the game. My husband Voyd said, “I’m gonna win that radio for you to take to the hospital with you when you go to deliver our child.”

Voyd won the radio by choosing the Gray Redbirds to win.

You had a photo in the paper when he went to get his prize.
