Easton Johnson, Karson Schilling and Bryce VanSkyock teamed for 13 total hits on Thursday in leading Pioneer Packaging past Matt’s Garage 15-14 in Portland Junior League’s Rookie baseball division.

Johnson went 5-for-5 with a triple and four singles, while Schilling and VanSkyock were both 4-for-4. Schilling tripled, doubled and smacked two singles, while VanSkyock had two doubles and two singles.

Benson Armstrong led Matt’s with a double and two singles. Deric Coons and Blake Jellison had three singles apiece.

Homestead 3, REMC 2

Kayla Sims, Paisley Day and Ava Peterson had multi-hit games and each reached home for Homestead Bedding in its Rookie softball win on Friday.

Sims had three hits, while Day and Peterson both finished with two hits, as did Saige Winger.

Lilah Hudson and Anna Pryor each had three hits and scored a run. Haley Comer contributed three hits while Danica Chowning and Shylyn Blowers had three hits apiece as well.

Optimist 16, Rock 3

A total of 25 hits carried Optimist to a 16-3 victory in Rookie softball action on Friday.

Alexa Ridenour hit a home run, singled three times and scored four times for Optimist, which got a homer, three singles and a pair of runs from Ali Clark. Kamzy Johnson tallied four singles and three runs, while Emily Towell and Rylee Jordan had three and two singles, respectively.

Madilyn Curtis and Emery Forthofer both singled twice and scored a run. Chloe Yates collected two singles, as Ellie Wiggins and Chessa Butler both had one hit. Wiggins also scored a run.
