FORT RECOVERY — The home court advantage wasn’t enough for the Indians Tuesday.
Fort Recovery’s volleyball team had been a perfect 3-0 at home this season. But, the Anna Rockets (10-3) ended that run Tuesday by topping the Tribe 25-23, 25-22, 25-18.
Sophomore Tiff Gaerke had team highs of 12 kills and eight blocks for the Indians (7-4), who had scored home wins over Parkway, Versailles and Ansonia before stumbling against Anna. She also had two digs.
Senior Megan Wenning had six kills and 10 digs, and fellow senior Krystal Rammel notched six kills and seven blocks.
Jennalee Post had 28 assists and seven points. Holly Stein scored 11 points, and Rachel Brackman added 11 digs.
The Tribe will return to Midwest Athletic Conference action Thursday when it visits New Knoxville at 6 p.m.
Junior varsity
Fort Recovery’s junior varsity volleyball team improved to 7-1 Thursday, clobbering Anna 25-2, 25-14.
Abby Niekamp led the destruction with 13 assists, two digs, one block and two points. She and Lauren Wenning, Sarah Braun and Jodi Tobe shared the team-high of four kills.
Alicia Schwieterman posted 12 points, including five aces, and Rachel Stahl added to points. Brittany Brackman had five digs, Tobe added four and Wenning notched one block.
Junior high
The Indian junior high teams hosted the New Knoxville Rangers Tuesday and each dominated the first game en route to victory.
The eighth grade team topped New Knoxville 25-11, 25-21, and the seventh graders rolled to a 25-10, 25-22 win.
Anne Koesters had a team-best five kills for the eighth grade team (5-3). She, Kinsey Wenning and Joanna Snyder each notched one block.
Wenning finished with three kills, and Snyder added two digs.
Chelsea Klenke led the serving attack with 14 points, and Rachel Tobe also reached double digits with 11. Melissa Tobe finished with three digs, and Kelsey Wuebker notched three assists.
Nicole Pottkotter gave the seventh grade Indians (6-2) just about all they needed from behind the service line. She scored 25 points in the contest while also adding two kills and one assist.
