Byrge has another solid day (07/12/03)

Local Roundup

Dunkirk resident Kenny Byrge participated in TQ Midget racing at the Speedrome in Indianapolis on Thursday, overcoming an early accident for an impressive showing.

Byrge suffered an accident during his heat race Sunday, but his crew managed to fix the broken piece of his machine, and he came back and won a mini-feature race. And after starting in the 19th position for the feature race, Byrge moved up ten spots and finished ninth. There were 23 other competitors on the race track.

The 17-year-old will race again next Friday, July 18 at the speedway in Bloomington, and again the following Saturday at the Shelbyville County Fairgrounds. Byrge races for Teegarden Racing, managed by rural Portland resident Larry Teegarden.
