Errors hurt Fort in loss to Bath (04/22/03)

FRHS Roundup

Fort Recovery’s baseball team slipped back to the .500 mark Monday after a 9-4 loss against Lima Bath. The Indians (7-7) dug a deep hole allowing four runs in the second inning and three in the third for a 7-1 deficit and never climbed out.

Eric Rindler suffered the loss as he was punished by errors, allowing nine runs — only two of which were earned — on 11 hits. He struck out two and walked one in five innings before giving way to Todd Post.

C.J. Tobe led the Tribe offense in the defeat, going 3-for-3 and scoring all but one of the team’s runs. Greg Heitkamp was 2-for-4 with a double and a home run while driving in three.

The Indians will host St. Henry today at 5 p.m.

Fort JV falls

There were plenty of fireworks Monday, but the Fort Recovery junior varsity softball team didn’t have quite enough explosiveness to get past St. Henry as it lost 18-14.

Megan Wenning took the loss, slipping to 1-1 on the year, as she gave up 16 runs — 10 earned — in five innings. She struck out five and walked one before Kelsie Will took over.

Kristen Schwieterman paced the Indians’ offense by going 3-for-3 with two runs, an RBI and two stolen bases. Kim Link had a pair of hits including a double, and scored twice.

Will and Lindsay Sudhoff each scored three runs, and Wenning, Brenda Rindler and Kelly Link each added two hits.

Fort needs coaches

Fort Recovery High School is looking for a varsity boys basketball coach.

Head coaching positions with the Indians are also open for boys golf and cross country. They are also in search of an assistant volleyball coach.

Those interested should call athletics director Barb Sautbine at (419) 375-4111 for more information.[[In-content Ad]]
