Fair still a success
Opinion
The Jay County Fair has been outstanding for so long, it’s easy to take it for granted.
But complications in scheduling which led to split fairs a few times in the past decade have reminded us how great an event it actually can be.
The 2003 edition was a return to form, with the usual mix of entertainment, enthusiasm, and fun.
Participation in 4-H was at what appeared to be an all-time high, and the headliner events drew great crowds.
The real attraction, however, is the chance to see one another.
A walk around the fairgrounds during fair week guarantees that you’ll renew old acquaintances and friendships.
Sometimes, it seems, that’s the whole point of the fair itself, to bring the community out to a single spot for a shared experience so we can remind ourselves what the community is about.
By that standard, the Jay County Fair continues to be a success. Thanks to everyone involved for making it happen year after year. — J.R.[[In-content Ad]]
