Firm collects food, money

CenturyLink collected thousands of pounds of food as well as more than $750,000 during its Backpack Buddies Feed the Children Food Drive in June.
The telecommunications company, which provides phone and internet service in Jay County, collected 1,090 pounds of food for Portland’s Helping Hand Food Bank as part of its company-wide total of 666,204 pounds. It also raised $767,219.
Two hired
Jama Hutzler of Portland and Angela Noggler of Fort Recovery have been hired to work at State of the Heart Hospice’s office in Portland.
Hutzler will be a CNA/hospice aid. She previously worked for two years as a CNA at a Randolph County nursing home and for 2.5 years at another hospice program.
Noggler will serve as an LPN. She graduated as a home health LPN in 2007 and is IV certified.
Cooperative dealer
Valentine Feed and Supply opens July 21 at 1165 N. U.S. 27 in Portland.
The store has teamed up with Southern States Cooperative, Inc., to offer farm and home needs. It will carry Southern States’ feed including Legends and Triple Crown Brands seed, fertilizer, animal health, pet and farm supplies.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
A grand opening event is scheduled for July 26.
Grief support
State of the Heart Hospice is partnering with Oswalt Family Funeral Home in Winchester to present a series of adult growing through grief sessions.
The free meetings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday from July 15 through August 19 at the funeral home, 1212 E. 100 South, in Winchester.
