Fort freshmen top Tigers (09/08/04)

FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery’s freshman volleyball team got back on track Tuesday, dumping the Versailles Tigers 25-17, 25-17 in Midwest Athletic Conference action.

Heather Schmackers paced the Indians (2-1) with 10 points. She also had a team-high of four assists.

Sarah Braun led the attack with seven kills, and LeAnne Tobin finished with eight digs. Ashley Grube had six points and six digs, and Jill Pottkotter went for five kills and two blocks.

Fort Recovery split its matches at the junior-high level, with the eighth grade team dropping a 25-22, 25-22 decision to the Minster Wildcats. The seventh grade team topped Minster 25-15, 20-25, 15-7.

Lorraine Shier racked up 12 points for the seventh grade Indians, and Nicole Pottkotter added nine. Carly Staugler had three assists, and Lindsay Fullenkamp and Alyssa Brackman each had one dig.

Emily May came away with six points, two kills, one block and one dig.

Kinsey Wenning came through with four kills, four blocks, four points and a dig in the eighth grade team’s loss. Kelly Sudhoff had nine points, Chelsea Klenke put up seven assists and Rachel Tobe had four digs.

Tribe JV rolls

ROCKFORD — The Fort Recovery junior varsity football team stomped the Parkway Panthers 16-0 Saturday.

After getting a safety in the first quarter, John Vagedes ran in for a 4-yard touchdown in the second. Tony Diller added the 2-point conversion run for a 10-0 halftime lead.

Diller added a 65-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and the defense dominated for the shutout.

Geneva pulls

The Geneva Volunteer Fire Department will host truck and tractor pulls Saturday, Sept. 18.

Tractor pulls will begin at 9 a.m., with truck pulls scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at the Limberlost pulling track. The cost of admission if $7.

Fort tickets

Tickets for Fort Recovery’s football game at Minster Friday will go on sale Thursday.

They will be sold in the high school office Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. They will also be available in the middle school office Friday from 8 to 11:30 a.m.

Advance tickets are $4 for students and $5 for adults. All tickets at the gate will be $5.[[In-content Ad]]
