Ruth Himes Johnson
Ruth A. Himes Johnson, 87, South Meridian Street, Redkey, died Wednesday evening after an extended illness.
Born in Heltonville on Aug. 23, 1916, she was the daughter of Sanford L. and Rosa Etta Bell (Coons) Clevenger. She spent most of her childhood in Muncie, later living in the Ridgeville and Redkey areas.
A homemaker, she had been employed several years at area canning factories.
She was first married to Charles E. Himes, who died Aug. 22, 1982. She was later married to Roy Johnson, who died Feb. 12, 1997.
Surviving are a son, David E. Himes, Redkey; four daughters, Mrs. Marion (Charlene) Watt, Richmond, Mrs. Roby (Donna) Ford, Redkey, Mrs. Monty (Beverly) Missicano, Redkey, and Mrs. Cecil (Marjorie) Lumpkin, Union City; a brother, Everett Clevenger, Portland; 29 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the M.J.S. Mortuaries Redkey Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, north of Farmland.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Marcella Iliff
Marcella I. Iliff, 85, Bluffton, died Thursday evening at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Born in Bryant on Sept. 15, 1918, she was the daughter of William Hayward and Ida Ann (Miller) Betz.
She was married on Oct. 16, 1938 in Muncie to Howard Iliff. He died Aug. 21, 1968.
Mrs. Iliff lived most of her life in Jay and Adams counties, moving to Wells County nine years ago. She worked at Economy Printing, Berne, for several years.
She was a member of Fellowship Missionary Church, Fort Wayne, and was a past member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary.
Surviving are six daughters, Joyce Iliff, Decatur, Mrs. Walt (Jan) Lewis, Gaston, Mrs. Mike (Jerry) Sullivan-Warner, Robin, Ga., Mrs. Larry (Joann) Strickler, Fishers, Mrs. Lester (Julia) Bickel, Warren, and Mrs. Raymond (June) Smith, Jamaica, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Thoma/Rich, Hewitt and Changey Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton, with Pastor David DeSelm officiating. Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Bryant.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday. Memorials may be made to Fellowship Missionary Church, Fort Wayne.
Virginia Bolen
Virginia Lou (Keener) Costerison Bolen, 77, Noblesville, died Tuesday at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, after an extended illness.
Born in Ridgeville on Dec. 31, 1925, she was the daughter of Hubert C. and Wavelene (Shaneyfelt) Keener. A former Portland area resident, she had lived most of her life in Daleville, where she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Marion E. Costerison, whom she married on Jan. 17, 1948, and Gilbert A. Bolen, whom she married on May 4, 1972.
She was a member of the Warner Gear Sympathy Club, Muncie.
Surviving are a son, Steven Costerison, Pendleton; a sister, Phyllis Ann Giddings, Dunkirk; an aunt, Audrey Kesler, Redkey; seven grandchidren; and one great-grandchld.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory Bright Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, with Pastor Chris Kellermeyer officiating.
Burial will be in Saunders Cemetery, Daleville.
