It feels good to be wrong (8/11/03)
Sometimes it’s nice to be proven wrong.
Much as we admired the fund-raising efforts to build the West Jay Community Center, we confess that we were among the skeptics when it came to expanding the still-young facility.
Too soon, we thought. Too much to take on, we thought. Wrong time in terms of the economy, we thought.
And we were wrong.
A determined team of volunteers, led by Dru Hall, Chuck Huffman, and Leo Glogas, kept plugging away, believing in the project when the skeptics among us said it could never succeed.
That, in itself, is a pretty good definition of real success, making something happen in the face of long odds and skepticism.
Soon, ground will be broken on an addition to the West Jay Community Center, adding a gymnasium which will greatly expand the ability to offer a wide range of programming.
But the real milestone of accomplishment has already been passed. Congratulations.
