Jay-Randolph drops to 1-10 (07/10/03)

The Jay-Randolph American Legion Baseball team suffered another tough defeat Monday night at McBride Stadium in Richmond. Facing a tough Richmond Harry Ray Legion Post 65 team, Jay-Randolph only managed to bang out two hits in the 18-2 loss.

Jay-Randolph (1-10) trailed 3-0 entering the top of the fourth inning, but Tyler Croyle doubled and scored on a wild pitch. Cory Waldrath followed with a solo home run to bring the score to 3-2.

Richmond rallied for another run in the bottom of the fourth and 14 more in the final three innings. Of Richmond’s 18 runs, five were unearned and the Jay-Randolph squad committed eight errors. Defense struggles have plagued the local team this season, as they average 3.6 errors per contest. The team batting average prior to the game was only .211.

Jay-Randolph will travel west this weekend to play in the Muncie Tournament, first game against the Muncie team will be this Saturday at 11 a.m.

Tractor Pulls Canceled

The truck and tractor pulls that were scheduled for this Saturday in Fort Recovery have been canceled due to flooding and extremely saturated grounds. The next truck and tractor pulls will be held on August 23 and 24 featuring the Enderle Pull Off.

Basketball tourney

There will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament held at the Pennville American Legion Lion’s Club Fair July 11-12.

The tournament will use a double-elimination format in seven different age groups. The cost to enter is $25.
