Waters had four hits on the weekend, including a grand slam. He scored three times and finished with seven RBIs.

Former Patriot Chris Myers had two hits, four runs and two RBIs.

Cougars lose opener

Four first-half turnovers dropped the newly formed Jay-Mercer Cougars semi-pro football team into a deeper deficit than it could handle Saturday.

Jay-Mercer went 14 plays to open the second half, taking nine minutes off the clock. The 80-yard drive was capped by and Eric Schmitz 3-yard touchdown run.

Chad Timmerman led the team with 105 yards on 15 carries. Schmitz had 10 carries for 65 yards.
