MainSource Financial Group, Inc. recently reported its third quarter earnings of $7.6 million, the highest earnings in the company’s history. The company’s earnings per share of 36 cents were 12.5 percent higher than the same quarter in 2012 and three percent higher than 2013’s second quarter earnings.
MainSource Financial Group, Inc., which has a branch at 112 N. Meridian St. in Portland and is headquartered in Greensburg, reported $2,284,347 of total assets on Sept. 30, 2013, compared to $2,755,006 on Sept. 30, 2012.
Donnelly authors skills gap act
Sen. Donnelly is authoring a bill that would require the federal government to seek employers’ advice on what job skills are needed when the U.S. Department of Labor is designing new training programs.

IU Health BMH a Top Performer
IU Health Ball Memorial has been designated as a top performer on Key Quality Measures for 2012. The hospital achieved a cumulative performance of 95 percent or higher on all reported accountability measures and other performance indicators.
New stores coming to Muncie
West McGalliard Road will become the location of several new stores.
Dick’s Sporting Goods will build a 40,000-square foot retail store on property near Muncie Mall. A Michael’s will also build a 17,000-square foot store there. Culver’s is building a new store just east of Wheeling Avenue.

Meridian Services Corporation, located in Muncie, received a grant for more than $800,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to expand services to additional Hoosiers in East Central Indiana.

The student chapter of the American Welding Society at Ivy Tech’s Anderson campus has been selected as the winner of 2013 Image of Welding Award.
The awards are issued to individuals and organizations that show exemplary dedication to promoting the image of welding in their communities.
Union City McDonald’s reopens
The Union City McDonald’s on Tuesday reopened its doors to show customers the redesigned store.
The store now has a larger dining space, new furniture, a community room and a new beverage station in the lobby.
It also features a new mural depicting the historic train depot and a collage of Union City street signs.
Manager testifies at EPA hearing
Steve Pittman, general manager at POET Biorefining — North Manchester, testified Thursday at a public Environmental Protection Agency hearing in defense of renewable biofuels and the Renewable Fuel Standard.
The ethanol industry in Indiana has created 3,575 full-time jobs and has generated $3.4 billion of annual economic activity.
“Will my grandsons have to leave this great country and go to protect our oil interests in the Middle East — putting their lives on the line — when we have the answer to energy independence right under our noses but just did not have the courage to do the right thing?” he asked.
