THEFT
Money was reported stolen from four vending machines in Portland and one machine in rural Portland on Sunday morning,
Approximately $56 was stolen from three soft drink machines at Blooms Discount Store, 133 E. Votaw St. sometime between 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday morning. The theft was reported at 7:47 a.m. Sunday. The locks on the machines were damaged to gain entry into the machines.
The theft of an unknown amount of cash from a vending machine at the Wash House, 120 E. Votaw Street was reported at 7:49 a.m. Sunday morning.
At 10:44 a.m. Sunday, Jay County police received a report of an unknown amount of money taken from a vending machine at Como Service Station, 5510 West Ind. 67, Portland. The machine was also damaged to gain entry.
FIRE RUNS
Portland Fire Department responded to calls on Sunday afternoon and this morning.
At 3:52 p.m. Sunday, Portland firefighters were called to a fire in an alley behind 1112 Franklin St. in Portland. The fire was contained in a barrel, Portland Fire Chief Mike Thomas said this morning.
Seven fire fighters responded with one truck.
Today at 9:21 a.m. firefighters were called to a fire in a brush pile at a dump site owned by the city.
Thomas said today that someone intentionally started the fire at the pile, which is located east of Doane Pet Care on the west side of Morton Street.
Four firefighters responded with two trucks.
DOOR BROKEN
A juvenile and an 18-year-old male were detained by Portland police after the juvenile allegedly broke a window out of a door at McDonald’s Friday just before 11 p.m.
Police were called to the Portland restaurant after the two males were told to leave after yelling at the store manager. As the two males were leaving the restaurant they slammed the door hard enough to break a window. The juvenile was detained after resisting arrest and then transported to the Youth Opportunity Center in Muncie. The 18-year-old was arrested for possession of alcohol by a minor, a class C misdemeanor.[[In-content Ad]]
