New sectional sites selected

Local Roundup

The tentative sites for sectional tournaments involving Jay County for the 2003-07 seasons were released Tuesday. The sites have been agreed upon by the sectional schools, but still need to be approved by the IHSAA.

Jay County will continue to play its boys basketball sectional games for each of the next four season. The volleyball sectional, previously played at Bellmont, will be played at perennial powerhouse Delta for the next four seasons.

The baseball and softball sectionals will shift between Tipton and Blackford, with Tipton hosting baseball in 2004 and 2005 and Blackford hosting softball during those seasons. The schools will swap baseball and softball sectional hosting duties in 2006 and 2007.

The girls basketball sectional will shift from Blackford to Elwood for the next two years. It will then be played at Mississinewa in 2006 and 2007.

The new sectional alignments take effect this year with the Patriots competing against Blackford, Delta, Tipton, Elwood and Mississinewa in boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball.
