Local Roundup

BLUFFTON — South Adams was so close to getting the Christmas gift it wanted — a win. But then Norwell snatched it away.

The Starfires nearly overcame Makenzie Warwick’s 26 regulation points for their first win of the year, but then went into overtime and lost 59-55 as the Knights played the role of Scrooge.

South Adams (0-10) dropped its 17th straight game despite leading by 10 at halftime in the Bluffton Bi-County tournament game. Norwell (4-8) erased most of the deficit in the third quarter, forced overtime and outscored the Starfires 8-4 in the extra session.

Kindle Inniger led South Adams in everything with team highs of 17 points, five assists and five steals. She also shared a team-best five rebounds with Julie Muhlenkamp, and drilled three 3-pointers.

Erin McCollum finished 3-of-4 from long distance and also reached double figures with 13 points. Muhlenkamp added nine points.

Norwell’s Warwick finished as the high scorer in the game, adding three points in overtime to finish with 29.
