Permits top $1 million


Jay/Portland Building and Planning issued building permits in October for nearly double the value issued a month earlier.
With a confined feeding building accounting for nearly half of the amount, permits were issued for $1,045,3000. The total in September was $565,1000.
Pete AC Schwartz, 2375 W. 650 North, Portland, received a permit for a duck confined feeding building at a value of $475,000. The only other permit clearing $60,000 was to Clint Muhlenkamp for a $210,000 home at 8709 E. 600 North, Bryant.
Other permits were issued to: John Jay Center for Learning, 101 S. Meridian St., Portland, fire suppression system, $50,000; Tom Homan, 2592 E. Ind. 26, Portland, two grain bins, $55,000; Larry Moser, 7743 W. 400 North, Pennville, pole building, $3,500; Retter Farms, 6702 W. 900 South, Ridgeville, compost building, $14,000; Lee and Danielle Huelskamp, 1011 W. Race St., Portland, roof change, $7,800; Jeff Overholser, 4893 E. Division Road, Portland, porch addition, $7,000; Curtis Lyons, 8521 S. 300 East, Ridgeville, residential addition, $45,000; Bob Krieg, 419 S. Western Ave., Portland, attached garage, $16,000; Fred and Deborah Whipple, 771 W. 400 South, Portland, residential addition, $45,000; Craig Imel, 2090 E. 200 North, Portland, pole barn, $17,000; Mark Cook and Lisa McShane, 274 E. 650 North, Bryant, pole barn, $15,000; Jacob JM Schwartz, 8922 N. 250 E, Geneva, storage building, $30,000; Brent Cline, 4707 N.
