CELINA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s boys golf team finished third in a four-team meet at Northmoor Golf Club in Celina Tuesday with a final score of 181.

St. Marys Memorial won the event with a 164, Sidney Lehman Catholic was second with a 168 and Parkway was fourth with a 193.

Todd Post recorded the top score for Fort Recovery, earning pars on the par-3 sixth hole, the par-4 third and seventh and the par-5 first and fifth for a 41. Dusty Tobe scored four pars in his round for a 44.

Travis VanSkyock shot a 47, and Aaron Kahlig rounded out the team score with a 49. William Nofziger had a 50, and Sean Kahlig shot 55.

The Tribe golfers were also in action Monday against the Marion Local Flyers, coming away with a 180-192 victory at Mercer County Elks Country Club in Celina.

Post also had the best score against Marion Local as he took match medalist honors with a 42. He birdied the 469-yard, par-5 13th hole and the 315-yard, par-4 15th hole while also getting pars on the par-4 14th and 17th.

Tobe birdied the 333-yard, par-4 12th hole and also had three pars for a 45. Aaron Kahlig had birdies on the 12th and 15th holes on the way to a 46.

Sean Kahlig completed the team round with a 47. Nofziger posted a 50, and Scott Hein shot a 54.

Fort Recovery earned a 202-213 victory over the Flyers in junior varsity action.

Kevin Schoenherr paced the JV squad with a birdie on the 312-yard, par-4 17th hole. He also had a par on No. 15.

VanSkyock parred No. 12 on the way to a 47, David Schmit opened with six consecutive bogeys en route to a 48 and Jason Grube parred the 15th hole during his round of 61.

The Indians will host St. Henry Thursday at 4:15 p.m.

Huelskamp leads CC

FORT LORAMIE, Ohio — Derrick Huelskamp again posted the best finish for the Fort Recovery cross country teams as they competed at Fort Loramie Tuesday. He finished the high school boys race in 18-minutes, 46 seconds.

Final placings were not available at press time.

Lindsay Sudhoff had the best finish for the high school girls in 24:36, and Tina Roessner led the junior high girls with a time of 14:31.

Mitch Fullenkamp trailed Huelskamp in 19:01, and Austin Burkhardt finished in 19:43. Also running for the boys team were Steve Gaerke (20:10), Stan Roessner (20:28), Jim Roessner (20:48), Matt Heinrichs (25:45) and Tyler Huelskamp (28:42).

Marisa Minor was second in the high school girls race for the Tribe with a time of 25:52. Sam Bihn finished in 26:36, and Leanne Pottkotter followed in 27:52.

Amber Heitkamp was next for the Indians in the junior high girls race in 16:19 with Andrea Faller finishing in 18:33.

Fort Recovery will run in the Eaton Invitational Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Freshman spikers roll

CELINA, Ohio — The Fort Recovery freshmen finally had to play a match away from home Tuesday. They still owned the court.

The Indian freshman volleyball team went on the road for the first time after four home matches, topping the Celina Bulldogs 25-14, 25-14.

Jill Pottkotter led the Tribe (4-1) as it starts its first of two road trips — it will play three matches away from Fort Recovery, followed by two at home and then five more on the road — with team highs of nine kills and six blocks. Ashley Grube scored 16 points and had five kills, and Sarah Braun had five points and three blocks.

Heather Schmackers put up six assists, and Amy Schoenlein had five points. Beth May and LeAnne Tobin had 18 and 10 kills respectively.

Fort Recovery’s junior high teams were also in action Tuesday, each scoring three-game victories over the Versailles Tigers. The eighth graders dropped the first game, but rallied for a 14-25, 25-16, 15-11 win while the seventh graders finished on top by a tight 25-21, 23-25, 16-14 score.

Kelsey Wuebker had seven assists, three kills and two blocks in the eighth grade’s comeback. Kinsey Wenning finished with nine points and three digs.

Rachel Tobe and Heidi Tobe posted team highs of 11 points and five kills respectively.

Emily May racked up 14 points for the seventh grade team, with Josie Guggenbiller adding eight. May also notched two kills, and Guggenbiller had two digs.

Nicole Pottkotter had a team-high six kills, and Sylvia Schwieterman added two. Carly Staugler and Chelsey Leuthold each had three assists, Alyssa Brackman notched two digs and Beth Link recorded a block.

The seventh grade team improved to 4-2 with its victory, and the eighth grade team evened its record at 3-3.[[In-content Ad]]
