Rookie League games canceled (07/09/03)

It was announced early this morning that Portland Junior League Baseball-Rookie League tournament games that were scheduled to begin today have been canceled. The games that were scheduled for tonight have been rescheduled for Friday. The tournament will follow the same time schedule on Friday that was planned for Wednesday.

Friday’s games and start times are: Patriot Paints vs. Cook’s Nursery, 5:30 p.m.; Barnett’s vs. Ponderosa, 7 p.m.; and Jay Co. Monuments vs. Williams Auto Parts, 8:30 p.m.

The remainder of the tournament schedule will be announced on Friday and all coaches will be notified. Any questions should be directed to commissioner Bruce Hosier at (260) 726-6241.

Hall of Fame Race

KA-O Motors is presenting the Baer Field Hall of Fame night, on Saturday, July 12, at the Baer Field Speedway. New inductees will be honored at a special ceremony, with time trials starting at 5 p.m. and racing set to begin at 7 p.m.

Saturday night’s feature races will be memorial races to those who have been involved with racing at Baer Field Speedway in previous seasons.

The mid-season championship that was rained out last weekend will be made up on Saturday, July 19. Friday night’s Kart races at Baer Field will have a $100 Kids Nickel Pitch presented by Fort Wayne Transmission Centers.

Golf meeting

There will be a meeting for everyone interested in playing boys golf at Fort Recovery High School this fall on Thursday, July 10.

The meeting will be in the FRHS Commons at 7 p.m. Parents are also invited to attend the meeting.[[In-content Ad]]
