Local Roundup

The Starfires got back to the .500 mark Wednesday, scoring 11 runs in the final three innings to erase a five-run deficit and defeat Parkway, 12-7. The South Adams baseball team is now 5-5 on the season, and stands at 2-1 in the Allen County Athletic Conference.

Parkway built a 6-0 lead after two innings, and allowed a run to South Adams in the third. It was still up by five heading into the top of the fifth when the Starfires put up four runs and followed with four in the sixth and three in the seventh to complete the rally.

Justin Haines powered the South Adams offense, going 2-for-3 with a double. He had a stolen base and four RBIs.

Kyle White and Doug Roop hit solo home runs during the comeback. White and Brian Caffee scored twice, and Lance Balsiger and Tyler Sprunger scored three runs apiece.

Sprunger added a pair of RBIs.

He also earned the victory, allowing seven runs — five earned — on seven hits. He struck out seven and walked three.

South Adams will host Woodlan today at 4:30 p.m.
