CITY ACCIDENT
Vehicles driven by Portland residents collided Friday at 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and Seventh Street.
Andrew P. Maitlen, 19, 123 W. Water St., told Portland Police he was eastbound on Seventh Street, crossing the intersection of Chicago Avenue, when he collided with another vehicle that disregarded the stop sign. William R. Walker, 61, 701 S. Western Ave., was southbound on Chicago Avenue at the time of the collision.
Maitlen was driving a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis, registered to Gary Maitlen of the same address. Walker was driving a 1987 Chevrolet Cavalier.
Damage to both vehicles was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
COUNTY ACCIDENT
A vehicle driven by a New Vienna, Ohio, woman collided with a deer Thursday at 6 p.m. in Knox Township.
Geraldine A. Irwin, 53, 241 First St., told Jay County police he was northbound on Ind. 1, just north of county road 250 North, when he was unable to avoid colliding with a deer that entered the road.
Irwin was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Beretta which sustained an estimated $750 and $1,000 in damage.
NO MORE DONATIONS
For an undetermined period of time the Thrift Store of Community and Family Services is not accepting donations said community service specialist Don Cole. Donations to the Helping Hands Food Pantry, however, are still needed and are accepted.
CRIMESTOPPERS
Jay County CrimeStoppers is investigating the theft of a set of keys and $1,300 in cash from the Eagles Lodge in Portland sometime Nov. 23.
An employee of the lodge, located at 320 N. Meridian St., told police that a set of keys and the cash were stolen sometime between 2:30 and 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 23.
A door was damaged to gain entry into the lodge.
