Stars fall to Woodlan

The South Adams softball team had Woodlan backed into a corner Thursday, but the Warriors battled out to defeat the Starfires 6-2.

The Starfires (3-4, 2-2 Allen County Athletic Conference) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning, but the advantage didn’t last long. Woodlan (9-1, 4-0 ACAC) scored twice in the top of the sixth and four more times in the seventh to pull away.

Lee Ann Snyder had a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in both South Adams runs. Andrea Kaehr also doubled, Jenni Rybolt singled and scored a run, and Candice Miller also scored once.

Mickayla Smith took the loss, allowing six runs — two earned — on 11 hits. She walked three and struck out two.

The Starfires will visit Adams Central Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
