Squaws roll past Patriots, 14-1 (04/17/03)
Fresh off their first win of the year, the Patriots still didn’t have much chance at handing Bellmont its first loss. Instead, the Squaws pounded Jay County 14-3 in five innings.
Bellmont (3-0) scored five runs in the first inning to take control. Saffron Redwine drove in Jenni Chittum, who was on second after a double, in the third for the Patriots’ only run.
Instead of allowing Jay County to claw back, the Squaws promptly put up six runs in the bottom of the third and added three in the fourth for the final margin.
The Patriots managed just three hits, doubles by Chittum and Stephanie Imel, and a single by Calah Redwine. Ashleigh Myers took the loss, pitching 21/2 innings.
Jay County plays at home today against Muncie Southside at 4:30 p.m.
