Starfire volleyball slips to 2-6 (09/03/03)

The South Adams volleyball team slipped to 2-6 on the season with a 21-8, 21-13, 21-8 defeat to the Adams Central Jets Tuesday. The Starfires are now 0-2 in the Allen County Athletic Conference.

Kelly Mertz paced South Adams on both sides, sharing a team-high three kills and delivering 14 digs. Robyn Habegger also had three kills.

Alyssa Miller finished with seven assists, Lacy Rhoades had a pair of aces and Brooke Fox notched one block.

The Starfires will play at Oak Hill Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

FR freshman spikers roll

Fort Recovery’s freshman volleyball team remained unbeaten with a 15-7, 15-7 victory over the Versailles Tigers Tuesday.

The seventh grade team defeated Minster 15-12, 15-8 while the eighth grade team lost to the Wildcats 15-13, 13-15, 15-13.

Holly Stein paced the freshman team (3-0) with 16 sets and nine points.

Abby Niekamp followed with nine sets and two digs, and Brittany Brackman had nine points and two digs.

Lauren Wenning notched four blocks and two digs, and Sam Staugler blasted a pair of kills.

The eighth grade team (2-1) got 24 sets and seven points from Heather Schmackers.

Amy Schoenlein had 14 points, and Beth May added nine sets. Angie Wenning picked up six digs, and Ashley Grube had a couple of blocks.

Kinsey Wenning racked up 15 points for the seventh grade team (2-1). She also had four digs.

Kelsey Wuebker recorded six sets.

FR freshman football loses

The Fort Recovery freshman football team got on the board, but couldn’t come away with a win Tuesday against the Minster Wildcats.

The Tribe took a 20-6 defeat. The lone score for the Indians came on a 57-yard run by Dominik Post.[[In-content Ad]]
