Tribe tops Bath (09/28/04)

LIMA, Ohio — The Fort Recovery volleyball team has lost back-to-back matches twice this season. But, it hasn’t allowed those setbacks to balloon into a losing streak.

After consecutive losses to Anna and New Knoxville last week, the Indians bounced back with a 25-15, 25-27, 25-19, 25-9 victory over the Lima Bath Wildcats Monday.

Tiff Gaerke again paced the Indians (8-5), racking up team highs of 24 kills, 14 blocks and four aces. The sophomore middle hitter also had 10 digs and eight points.

Sophomore Holly Stein was also in double digits in kills with 13 to go along with eight points and six blocks. Senior Krystal Rammel had 11 points, eight kills and eight blocks, and sophomore Vicki Roessner had nine digs and eight points.

Jennalee Post finished with 51 assists, 13 digs and five blocks. Megan Wenning added 11 points and nine kills, and Rachel Brackman had 17 digs.

Fort Recovery also won the junior varsity match over Bath 25-16, 25-11 to improve to 8-2.

Setter Abby Niekamp racked up 17 points — more than twice as many as anyone else in the match — and 20 assists. She also had four digs and three kills.

Jodi Tobe added seven digs, five kills and five points, and Sarah Braun had four kills and four blocks. Brittany Brackman had 12 digs, and Rachel Stahl scored seven points.

The Indians will play at Delphos St. Johns Thursday at 6 p.m.

SA spikers fall

BERNE — South Adams’ volleyball team continued to struggle Monday with a 25-20, 25-12, 25-22 loss to the Class 3A No. 7 Blackford Bruins.

Renee Neuenschwander had seven kills and five aces in the defeat. Tamara Moser had five kills and a pair of blocks.

Brooke Fox finished with nine digs and two blocks, and Robyn Habegger had seven digs and three aces. Andrea Moser came up with two blocks.

The Starfires lost in junior varsity action 29-27, 25-16, but won the freshman match 16-25, 25-16, 25-19. They will host Woodlan today at 6 p.m.

Indians defeat NB

FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery freshman volleyball upped its record to 7-1 Monday with a 25-20, 25-15 victory over the New Bremen Cardinals.

Angie Wenning led the Tribe to the victory with 15 points and seven assists. Ashley Grube added 11 digs, five points and four kills.

Jill Pottkotter posted a team-high eight kills and had one block, and Amy Schoenlein added four kills and one block. Heather Schmackers finished with five points and five assists, LeAnne Tobin had eight digs, and Beth May notched seven digs.

Jays top Tribe

DELPHOS, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s freshman football team took a 40-6 defeat against the Delphos St. Johns Blue Jays Monday.

Tickets for Fort Recovery’s football game at Delphos St. Johns Saturday will go on sale Thursday.

They will be sold in the high school office Thursday from 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. They will also be available in the middle school office Friday from 8 to 11:30 a.m.

Advance tickets are $4 for students and $5 for adults. All tickets at the gate will be $5.[[In-content Ad]]
