HUNTINGTON - Jay County's girls soccer team gave up scores on half of the Huntington North Vikings' 10 shots on goal in a 5-1 defeat Saturday.
Huntington North converted on three of its six first-half shots for a 3-0 lead to take control of the game.
Pazia Speed, as JCHS sophomore, pulled the Patriots within two when she hit a cross shot from the left side to the right post with 3:21 still on the clock in the second half.
However, the Vikings quickly reclaimed control as they scored their fourth and fifth goals within the next four minutes.
Jay County took 11 shots on goal in all, with senior Tequila Guntle recording five. Dana Horn and Brianne Wellman had two shots apiece. Goalie Abby Loy finished with four saves, and Esther Stephen added one.[[In-content Ad]]
