DEER ACCIDENT
A rural Portland woman was involved in an accident involving a deer Tuesday night in Wayne Township.
Brenda Yvette Broering, 33, 8419 East 200 South, was traveling west on Ind. 26, near county road 300 East, when a deer ran onto the road. She said she could not avoid the collision.
Estimated damage to Broering’s 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette van was between $1,000 and $2,500.

In November, Geneva police issued 19 traffic citations and 10 traffic warnings. Of those 19 citations, 16 were issued for speeding, one for a stop sign violation, one for no operator’s license when required and one for lack of proof of financial responsibility.
Of the 10 warnings, seven were issued for speeding, one for a stop sign violation, one for loud music and one for an unsafe start.
Police also made 150 business and 40 home security checks, unlocked three vehicles, made two vehicle title checks and investigated two property damage accidents.
Members of the department also investigated one alarm, issued two gun permits and made two arrests.
Geneva police assisted Berne police six times, Adams County police six times and Jay County police once in November.
Police also investigated reports of harassment, vandalism, loud music, theft, a dispute, and they served six abandoned vehicle notices to Geneva residents.[[In-content Ad]]
