The Jay County Chamber of Commerce honored a number of local businesses and institutions for their longevity Saturday at its annual meeting.
MainSource Bank was honored for 140 years, and Jay County Abstract Company was honored for 90 years.
Those recognized for 60 years included Fullenkamp Machine Inc., Jay Community Center and Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Centre.
Fifty-year honors went to Jay Schools, Office Concepts and Ivy Tech Community College.
WorkOne and Second Harvest Food Bank were honored for 30 years.
FCC (Indiana) LLC, Country Classics Inc. and Jay County Monuments were recognized for 25 years.
Those honored for 20 years included Accelerated Curing Inc., Great Wall Restaurant, the Jay County Landlords Association, Portland Veterinary Clinic and Racster, Jacks & Associates, LPL.
Ten-year honors went to All Circuit Electrical, Dalton & Co. Cleaning Supply, Fort Recovery Construction and Equipment, Harris Mechanical Industrial Contractors, Hearing Aid Outlet, IOM Grain LLC, Moser Motors of Portland, the National Center for Great Lakes Native American Culture and Trees Are Us Inc.

Tourism office unveils new brand
Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann and Mark Newman, executive director of the Indiana Office of Tourism Development, recently unveiled a new customer brand for Indiana.
The new brand, “Honest to Goodness Indiana” embodies Hoosier hospitality, which is what the state is known for.
The development of the brand is an opportunity to create a unified message for Indiana. The office’s goal was to create a brand that represents the entire state, is respectful to Indiana history, forward thinking and fitting for both rural and urban settings.

JJCL to host technology classes
The East Central Indiana Small Business Development Center is presenting a learning series at the John Jay Center for Learning.
On March 13 and 14 there will be a session on QuickBooks. The session on March 13 will be from 1 to 5 p.m. The session on March 14 will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is a two-day series and will cost $200.
From 9 a.m. to noon on April 10 there will be a session called “Branding Your Business” that will cost $30.
From 9 a.m. to noon on May 8, there will be a session called “Social Media & Your Business.”

WPTA, WISE to get new owners
Two local television channels are getting new owners.
Quincy Newspapers Inc. will acquire WPTA, Fort Wayne’s ABC and CW affiliate, from Malara Broadcasting Corp.
SagamoreHill Broadcasting has an agreement to purchase WISE, Fort Wayne’s NBC and MyTV affiliate, from Granite Broadcasting Corp.
The deals are expected to close at the end of this year, contingent on federal regulatory approval.[[In-content Ad]]
