Take time to make pledge
Editorial
Guilty as charged.
Chances are, you may be guilty too.
Guilty of what?
Chances are, somewhere on your desk or your dresser or in that pile of papers on the kitchen table is your Jay County United Way pledge form.
You know, the one you fill out to make a simple, painless, weekly or monthly donation to help nearly two dozen local organizations make life better for our fellow citizens.
Yeah, that one.
If you are like us, you’ve found that September was just too doggoned busy. The pledge form is there on your desk or kitchen table somewhere. You just need to dig it out.
So do we.
So this time, we’ll make multiple pledges.
We pledge that we’ll find that form lost on our desk. We pledge we’ll make as generous a corporate pledge as possible. And we pledge we’ll make a personal pledge as well.
Now. Today. Not a month from now or when the campaign finds itself limping along into 2015.
Now.
Why? For the simple reasons that have driven local United Way campaigns for more than 50 years, because it works. A single gift helping a whole bunch of worthy organizations, a united effort to improve and maintain the quality of local life.
It is both simple and profound, and all it takes to be a part of it is to fill out that pledge form.
You can do it.
We did. —J.R.
