CELINA — Fort Recovery’s girls golf team returned to .500 in the Midwest Athletic Conference with a 216-259 win over the Marion Local Flyers at the Mercer County Elks.
Cori Stone and Tori Vaughn each shot 52 to lead the Indians, who push their dual-meet record to 6-3 on the season and 2-2 in MAC play.
Stone tied her season-low she set Aug. 18 on the same course.
Trisha Thien turned in Fort Recovery’s No. 3 score with a 54. Emily Bruns and Elli Keller both shot a 58 to round out the Indians’ team score.

Flyers beat Tribe
FORT RECOVERY — After a grueling five-game loss to Jay County on Tuesday, the Fort Recovery volleyball team lost its second straight match on Thursday.
The Marion Local Flyers, a Midwest Athletic Conference foe, beat the Indians 25-16, 26-15, 25-20.
Tori Lennartz had eight kills to lead the Tribe (5-3, 1-2 MAC). She also had four digs and one block.
Morgan Lennartz and Kendra Siefring each totaled seven kills, and Cassidy Rammel had five kills and five digs to go with her 13 assists.
The Indians’ junior varsity squad also lost to the Flyers, 25-21, 25-22.
Carley Stone had a team-high eight kills and Grace Thien tallied 11 digs.
Jill Roessner and Kelsey Jutte notched 13 and 12 assists respectively.

Fort frosh top ML
FORT RECOVERY — Kiah Wendel led the Fort Recovery freshman volleyball team to a 25-20, 25-18 win over Marion Local on Thursday.
Wendel had five kills and five digs to go with her three aces.
Sydney Dues had a pair of kills and digs, and added five assists.
Alyssa Post and Taylor Thien had five digs and four digs respectively.

Star golfers 2nd
GENEVA — The South Adams girls golf team shot a 183 to finish second Tuesday at Golf Club of the Limberlost.
The Leo Lions scored a 162 to win the three-team match and the Southern Wells Raiders were third with 219.
Starfire junior Sydney Willis led her team with a 37, one stroke behind match medalist Brook Moser of Leo.
Kelli Lehman turned in a 45 for her best score of the season, and Jaci Gorrell fired a 50 as the Starfires’ No. 3 score. Amy Schwartz was one stroke behind Gorrell to finish off the South Adams team score.
Alleigh Wingler also competed, finishing her round with a 54.
South Adams travels to Portland at 9 a.m. Saturday to compete in the Allen?County Athletic Conference tournament at Portland Golf Club.

SA gets first win
BERNE — The South Adams girls soccer team notched its first win of the year Thursday in a 1-0 victory over the visiting Muncie Central Bearcats.
Virginia Lagos scored the lone goal in the contest, burying a right-footer past the Bearcat goalkeeper in the final minute of the first half.
Sharon Balisger was credited for the assist, and Jaden Jauregui had seven saves as the South Adams goalkeeper.
The Starfires improve to 1-3 on the season.
South Adams returns to the pitch at 5 p.m. Thursday against the New Haven Bulldogs.
