Tribe golfers shoot season-low 158

CELINA, Ohio — The Fort Recovery High School boys golf team turned in its best round in recent memory Monday.
The Indians shot a 158 — the best team score in coach Brad Evers’ 11 years leading the team — in a victory over the St. Henry Redskins and Botkins Trojans at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.
St. Henry was second with 192, and Botkins scored a 217 for third.
Jackson Hobbs earned medalist honors with a 35, his season-best score and the lowest score for the Indians with Evers as coach.
Derek Backs followed Hobbs with a 38, and Chase Bruns was two strokes behind with a 40.
Cole Wendel shot a 45 to round out the Indians’ team score. Nick Litmer (47) and Micaiah Cox (55) also competed for the Indians, who improved to 8-4 (5-2 Midwest Athletic Conference).

Indians top Trojans
ARCANUM, Ohio — Kendra Siefring and Morgan Lennartz led the Fort Recovery volleyball team to a 25-9, 25-15, 25-18 win Monday over the Arcanum Trojans.
Siefring had team highs in kills (eight) and digs (13), and Lennartz added seven kills and a pair of blocks for Fort Recovery (6-3), which ended its two-match losing skid.
Kirsten Jutte had 13 assists and three blocks, and Cassidy Rammel tallied five kills, 12 assists and six digs.
Devin Post had four kills, Tori Lennartz chipped in three kills and three blocks and Rachel Pugh recorded 10 digs.

Fort girls fall
CELINA, Ohio — Fort Recovery’s girls golf team lost to St. Henry on Monday at Mercer County Elks Golf Club, 194-233.
Trisha Thien turned in a 52 as the top score for the Tribe (6-4, 2-3 Midwest Athletic Conference), and Tori Vaughn was three strokes behind with a 55.
Cori Stone (61) and Emily Bruns (65) closed out the team score for the Indians. Elli Keller and Sophie Timmerman also competed, shooting a 68 and 82 respectively.

Willis, Stars beat Indians
MARION — Sydney Willis shot a 40 on Monday to lead the South Adams girls golf team to a 178-219 victory over the Mississinewa Indians at Marion Elks Country Club.
It was the best team score this season for the Starfires, who improved to 8-2 on the season.
Jaci Gorrell had a 44 as the No. 2 score for South Adams, with Alleigh Wingler and Kelli Lehman close behind at 46 and 48 respectively.
Competing in her first varsity match of the season, Kaiti Gorrell turned in a score of 58.
Alexis Scott led Mississinewa with a 50.

Walter leads EJMS
BLUFFTON — Sarah Walter had five kills to lead the East Jay Middle School eighth grade volleyball team to a 25-9, 25-23 win Monday over the Bluffton Tigers.
The seventh grade Chiefs lost to the Tigers, 21-25, 25-12, 15-11.
Hannah Phillips had eight service points and four aces for the EJMS eighth graders.
Maggie Pryor had six points and four aces, and Kailee Denney notched five points, four aces and one kill.
Walter also added four points and three aces. Hanna Dillon and Olivia Kunkler tallied three and two kills respectively.
Britney Mullins and Macey Weitzel led the seventh grade Chiefs with 18 and 14 service points respectively. Mullis had 11 aces, and Weitzel totaled six. Elyse Bost recorded five points and two kills, and Emma James had a pair of points and kills.

Eagles 8th win
DALEVILLE — Randi Ferguson had 17 points and five aces in the West Jay Middle School eighth grade volleyball team’s 25-24, 25-12 win Monday over the Daleville Broncos.
The seventh grade Eagles lost to the Broncos 25-20, 12-25, 15-9, and the sixth graders fell 25-11, 25-23.
Rhegan Shimp and Molly Ault had six points each for the eighth grade Eagles, with all six of Shimp’s points coming from aces.
For the WJMS seventh graders, Calli Stigleman had nine points, and Allison Jobe tallied eight points and three aces. Halle Hill notched seven points, and Hallie Fields and Kymia Hankins added five each.
Chloe Campbell led the WJMS sixth graders with four points, including two aces, and Grace Morgan had an ace for the Eagles.
