Jayland Partners grateful for help from community
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
We are absolutely thrilled to have again the support of the community for Jayland Partners’ annual holiday party on Dec. 9.
With their help, we hosted a Country Christmas themed party for approximately 150 people with intellectual disabilities, their families, and caregivers. During the event, we recognized Chief of Portland Police Nathan Springer with our Larry Grier Community Champion Award. This award recognizes Nathan’s involvement in championing the needs of people with disabilities to promote access and inclusion for all people.
We would like to celebrate by recognizing the following partnership of our donors and volunteers.
Donors included: Alexander Financial Group of Raymond James, Meridian Health Services, Jay-Randolph Developmental Services, Bryant Angels, The General Store, and Watson Excavating Inc. of Redkey. Also McShane Consulting, Cincinnatus League, Immaculate Conception Rosary Society, and First Merchants Bank. Additionally, Opportunities for Positive Growth, First Bank of Berne, Jim Wright of State Farm Insurance, Bollenbacher and Associates, Gamma Nu Sorority, Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Rogers and Janice Durham, Judan Judo, as well as Jay County REMC, Williamson and Spencer and Penrod Funeral Homes, Fisher Packing, Amy VanLue Photography, and Pride Duncan Photography.
Volunteers included: Bryant Wesleyan Church, Curtis Garber, David Koons, Kendra Harris, Judy Hedges, Kay Strausburg, Vickie Brotherton, Diane Murphy, Beth Burris, Billie Hammond, Brittney Watson, Donna Watson, Zoey Brotherton, Amy and Nathan Myers and family, Ruth Davidson, Devon and Lucy Smith, Madeline Hardwick, Gary Lawrence, the Indiana Jay Hawks, Shelly Symmes, Portland Fire Department and Jay County EMS, Portland Police Department, Gary Lawrence, Aleah Barrett, Cydney Erickson, Mark and Jennifer and Emily Smith.
