Grant recipient thanks foundation
Letters to the Editor
To the editor:
It is with great excitement that I write this letter of thanks to The Portland Foundation on receiving a grant for $10,000 to help support much needed renovations to our building at 228 S. Meridian St., Portland.
Our organization, Second Chance at Life Ministries, will use this money to stabilize and replace various necessary items in and outside the building that we feel is not only important to us, but to the enhancement of our downtown.
It will allow us to much more efficiently house the various programs we provide for both adults and teenagers. The building is utilized five times a week at stated times and by appointment.
We are very fortunate in Jay County to have an organization like The Portland Foundation. Thanks to the forethought of previous generations and the continued generosity of many people who have remembered, by bequest and donations, the foundation and the work it does in our community, grants like this are possible.
The purpose of Second Chance at Life Ministries is to minister spiritual and rehabilitative assistance to those in need.
This takes form in many different ways, but foremost is part of our motto, “Everyone deserves a second chance.”
Due to the wonderful opportunity afforded to us by this grant, we will be able to better assist many individuals and hope to make a difference in their lives.
Sincerely,
Michael E. Eads
