Building permits
Building permits were issued for more than $1.1 million in new construction in July in Jay County.
The largest project was a turkey confined feeding building being built at Leon and Linda Muhlenkamp’s property at 5884 E. 500 North, Portland, at a cost of $430,000.
Two other large projects included a $200,000 new home and pond by Caleb Lutes at 227 W. 200 North, Portland, and a $100,000 residential addition by Jacob Link at 510 E. 400 North, Portland.
Other permits were issued to Keith Kahlig, 3533 S. 500 East, Portland, for a $50,000 barn; Steve Reier, 8560 E. 400 North, Portland, for a $65,000 machine shop; Hartzell Farms Inc., 3734 E. 100 North, Portland, for a $47,000 storage building; Daniel Shetler, 4618 N. 150 East, Portland, for a $500 storage building addition; TLS By Design LLC, 410 S. Bridge St., Portland, for a $7,000 storage building; William Schaffer, 211 Pittsburg Ave., Portland, for a $2,000 roof over deck; David Rupe, 10460 W. Balbec Road, Pennville, for a $15,000 garage addition; Tracey and Teresa Storie, 728 E. Main St., Portland, for a $250 fence; Travis Hodgson, 135 N.
