Birthday celebration is Friday
Taking note
A party will be held at the Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva for Gene Stratton-Porter’s birthday and to celebrate her life in Geneva from 1888 until 1913.
‘Geneva’s Geneva’ will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at the Limberlost Cabin. A variety of Indiana wines and craft beers will be available for sampling and there will be birthday cake baked by Chef Cary.
Period music will be performed by Provenzano and there will be a tour of the cabin grounds.

Work may be delivered Thursday, Oct. 2, Friday, Oct. 3 or by noon on Saturday, Oct. 4.

Jeremy Turner, a Shawnee Native American, who lives in Indianapolis, will be the guest speaker at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at Fort Recovery State Museum. The topic will be “Delaware Indians — From Ohio and Indiana to Oklahoma.”

Arts Festival
The inaugural Juried Art Show will be held in October at the Randolph County Arts Depot during the Union City Arts Festival.
Artists must be 18 or older to exhibit their work and all 2D, 3D and video art is eligible.
Original art should be smaller than five feet in any direction and weigh 50 pounds or less, have been completed in the last three years and not have been exhibited in the Arts Depot.
Concert series
Fort Recovery Friends of the Arts recently announced its 2014 Summer Concert Series. Concerts are free and begin at 8 p.m. in the Hein Amphitheatre in Van Trees Park in Fort Recovery.
Seating is available and lawn chairs and blankets may also be used. Concessions are available from the Fort Recovery Boy Scouts.
Aug. 10: The Geeze Cats — 50’s and 60’s music and comedy.
Aug. 17: Shelby County Line — A local country band.

Dan Anderson and Tamara Locke will perform Saturday at 7 p.m. at Webster Depot Park in Dunkirk.
