LEO — For the first time since 2010, the Jay County High School girls golf team played in a conference match.
Sydney Mathias shot a 50 Tuesday at the par-35 Cedar Creek Golf Club, leading the Patriots to a 219 and a second-place finish in the three-team conference match with host Leo and Adams Central.
Leo won the match with a 181, and Adams Central was third with 259.
Rachel Antrim and Carlie Wickey shot identical rounds of 56 for Jay County (1-1, 1-1 Allen County Athletic Conference). Brooke Sanders and Malaire Houck tied with a 57 to complete the Patriots’ team score.
Tribe boys place 2nd
CELINA, Ohio?— Chase Bruns shot an 81 to earn match medalist honors Tuesday as the Fort Recovery boys golf team finished in second at the Mercer County Invitational at Mercer County Elks Country Club.
Celina won the six-team invitational with a 348, six strokes ahead of the Indians. Marion Local was third with 372.
Derek Backs followed Bruns with an 83. Jackson Hobbs (94) and Austin Faller (96) had the No. 3 and No. 4 scores for the Indians.
Also competing for Fort Recovery were Nick Litmer (97)?and Micaiah Cox (102).
