Sentenced
Kala Stevens, 22, Portland, invasion of privacy, a Class A misdemeanor — Sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail, with all but two days suspended. She received two days credit for one day served and was fined $50. She was assessed court costs of $168 and ordered to perform 40 hours of community service. She was placed on formal probation for 12 months.
Mark Dillard, 35, Muncie, possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor — On the count of possession of marijuana, he was sentenced to one year in Jay county Jail, with all but 10 days suspended. He received two days credit for one day served and will begin serving the remaining eight days of his sentence Friday. He was fined $50 and ordered to pay a $200 drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee and a $400 substance abuse program fee. He was placed on formal probation for 11 months. The court recommended Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles suspend his operator’s license, existing motor vehicle registrations and ability to register motor vehicles for 180 days, to be consecutive to suspension in the count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. On the count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, he was sentenced to 60 days in Jay County Jail, to be served concurrently to the sentence imposed in the count of possession of marijuana, with all but 10 days suspended. He received two days credit for one day served and will serve the remainder of his sentence beginning Friday. He was fined $100 and assessed court costs of $168.50. He was ordered to pay a $200 alcohol and drug countermeasures fee, and the court recommended Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles suspend his driver’s license for 90 days, which began pre-conviction on April 7. As part of a plea agreement, a count of possession of a controlled substance was dismissed.
Nicholas Folkerth, 24, Dunkirk, possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent of .08 percent or more, a Class C misdemeanor — On the count of possession of marijuana, he was sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail, with all but 16 days suspended. He received two days credit for one day served and began serving the remaining 14 days of his sentence Monday. He was fined $50 and assessed court costs of $168.50. He was ordered to pay an alcohol and drug countermeasures fee of $200, a drug abuse, prosecution, interdiction and correction fee of $200 and a substance abuse program fee of $400. On the count of operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent of .08 percent or more, he was sentenced to 60 days in Jay County Jail, with all but 16 days suspended. He received two days credit for one day served and began serving the remaining 14 days of his sentence Monday, to be served concurrently to the sentence imposed in the count of possession of marijuana. He was placed on formal probation for 11 months, and the court recommended Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles suspend his driver’s license for 90 days, which began pre-conviction on Jan. 20. As part of a plea agreement, a count of operating a vehicle while intoxicated was dismissed.
Steven Taylor, 27, Redkey, resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor — Sentenced to one year in Jay County Jail, to be served consecutive to an October case of possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor, and public intoxication, a Class B misdemeanor, and a June 2011 case of possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony, with all but 64 days suspended. He was given four days credit for two days served and will begin serving the remaining 60 days of his sentence Friday. He was assessed court costs of $168 and placed on formal probation for nine months, to be served consecutive to the probation in the October case of possession of marijuana and public intoxication.
