Cooper Farms buys FR Equity

Cooper Farms, based in Oakwood, Ohio, announced Aug. 8 that it acquired Fort Recovery Equity, a chicken egg-layer and pullet cooperative based in Fort Recovery.
Cooper grows turkeys, chickens, egg layers and hogs and sells a variety of fully cooked and ready-to-cook turkey, ham and chicken products.
The purchase gives Cooper Farms an additional 2 million chicken egg-layers and the ability to raise up to 6 million pullets by more than 40 farmers who will be joining Cooper Farms as contract growers.
The 75 employees of Fort Recovery Equity were asked to stay on as members of the Cooper Farms team, which makes nearly 1,700 total employees throughout northwest and west central Ohio.
Pioneer featured

The story about Pioneer highlights its efforts in grinding pallets and other forms of would waste for use in poultry bedding. The company uses a Rotochopper in the process and makes between 120,000 and 150,000 pounds of animal bedding per year.
Degree earned
Shaun Roberts, who practices at Schmit Chiropractic in Portland, recently earned a master’s degree in sports science and rehabilitation from Logan University in Missouri.
Roberts earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Logan in April. He specializes in conditions of the spine, nervous system, sports injuries, family health and wellness care.
