Cooper Farms buys FR Equity

Business Roundup

Cooper Farms, based in Oakwood, Ohio, announced Aug. 8 that it acquired Fort Recovery Equity, a chicken egg-layer and pullet cooperative based in Fort Recovery.
Cooper grows turkeys, chickens, egg layers and hogs and sells a variety of fully cooked and ready-to-cook turkey, ham and chicken products.
The purchase gives Cooper Farms an additional 2 million chicken egg-layers and the ability to raise up to 6 million pullets by more than 40 farmers who will be joining Cooper Farms as contract growers.
The 75 employees of Fort Recovery Equity were asked to stay on as members of the Cooper Farms team, which makes nearly 1,700 total employees throughout northwest and west central Ohio.
