School board slate filled
No contested races for Jay Board
Filling seats on Jay School Board came down to the wire, with two candidates filing just hours before the deadline.
With incumbent Mike Shannon and newcomer Cory Gundrum filing before Friday’s noon deadline, there is one candidate for each of the seats up for election in November. With one filer withdrawing Friday morning, none of the candidates will face a challenge.
Shannon is in the final months of his second term representing District 2 (Dunkirk). Gundrum filed to run for the District 1 (Portland) seat currently held by Larry Paxson, who did not file to run for a third term.
Neither of those positions had candidates as of Thursday afternoon.
Also Friday morning, Chad Aker withdrew his application for the District 5 seat (Jackson, Bearcreek and Wayne townships), leaving incumbent Ron Laux unchallenged for a second term. Beth Krieg, the one-term incumbent for District 3, which includes Penn, Greene and Jefferson townships, will also run unopposed.
Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
