Patriot runners eighth
CELINA, Ohio — The Jay County High School boys cross country team placed eighth Saturday in the Green Division of the Celina Rotary Invitational at Wright State’s Lake Campus.
The Patriot girls finished ninth.
In the White Division, the South Adams boys and girls teams both finished in second place. The Fort Recovery girls placed fifth, and the Tribe boys were eighth.
Jay County’s Kellie Fortkamp crossed the finish line in eighth place with a time of 22 minutes. 43.28 seconds. Erika Kunkler was 40th as the No. 2 runner, and Kiara Walter was 59th. Kay Morgan (66th) and Ashley Alig (76th) also competed for Jay County.
Tanner Craw was the top runner for the Patriot boys, placing 32nd with a time of 20:40.9, and Travis Barton was 46th. Dustin Bricker and Alex LeMaster finished back-to-back in 50th and 51st respectively, and Dylan Harris rounded out the Patriots top five runners, crossing the finish line in 62nd.
Travis Sutter placed 12th as the top runner for Fort Recovery. Isaac Siegrist was 17th, Sam Huelskamp was 56th and Harrison Kaup was 73rd. Rodney Hemmert was the No. 5 runner for the Indians, crossing the finish line 93rd.
Grace Gehle led the Tribe girls with a 19th-place finish in 23:52.46. Caitlyn Huelskamp (30th), Angela Heitkamp (37th), Paige Hemmert (47th) and Alexis Hobbs (49th) also ran for Fort Recovery.
For South Adams, Bailey McIntire was fourth (sixth overall) with a time of 17:44.5, and teammate Sawyer Miller was one spot behind him in fifth.
In his first varsity race, freshman Wyatt Miller crossed the finish line in 15th. David Steffen and Briar Goodwin were 20th and 21st respectively.
The Starfires’ Olivia Von Gunten was third (fourth overall) with a time of 21:11.36. Aleesha Goodwin was sixth, and Katelin Hawbaker and Kara Seffernick finished back-to-back in 11th and 12th. Hadi Hawbaker was the No. 5 runner for the SAHS girls, finishing in 23rd.
