Couple to celebrate 50 years

Walter and Barbara Paxson, Harrod, Ohio, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday with an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. at Harrod Community Center.
Walter, a former Pennville resident, married Barbara K. Wiley on Aug. 23, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church in Portland with the Rev. Richard Kraus officiating. Barbara is a former Portland resident and the daughter of Florence Wiley-Stoner, Portland.
Barbara is a retired special education teacher and teaches driver’s education at Debbie’s Driving Academy and is a substitute teacher.
Walter is employed at Elevator Services & Storage, Inc., in Beaverdam, Ohio.
They are the parents of five children, Marcus Paxson, St. Mary’s Ohio, Maria Kibele (husband: Leif), Bluffton, Ohio, Darla Metz, Covington, Ohio, Chris Paxson (wife: Jessica), Harrod, Ohio, and Gus Paxson (wife: Sara), Bluffton, Ohio. They also have 17 grandchildren.
The couple celebrated earlier this year with a trip to Australia and New Zealand.
