Jay's Baughn, SA's Willis share medalist honors

GENEVA — Maddison Baughn of Jay County and South Adams’ Sydney Willis both earned match medalist honors Tuesday at Golf Club of the Limberlost.
The two shot a 43 —Baughn’s season-best score — as the South Adams High School girls golf team placed first with a 181 in the three-way Allen County Athletic Conference match.
Jay County was second with a 191, and Adams Central had a 210 for third.
Alleigh Wingler followed Willis with a 44, and Jaci Gorrell and Amy Schwartz shot identical 47s to complete the Starfires’ team score.
Brooke Sanders shot a 47 as the No. 2 score for Jay County, and Abby Saxman posted a season-best 49. Sydney Mathias and Malarie Houck both turned in scores of 52 to round out the team total for the Patriots. Kelli Lehman (48) also competed for the Starfires.
South Adams improves to 4-1 (2-0 ACAC) on the season, and Jay County is now 4-2 (2-2 ACAC).
In junior varsity action, the Patriots took first with a score of 230. South Adams scored 268 for second, and Adams Central was third with 290.
Rachel Antrim led the Patriots with a 51, and Carlie WIckey had a 55. Alyssa Culy and Sydney Robbins both shot a 62, and Gracie Runkle had a 68.
Scores for the South Adams JV team were not available.
